In recent years, breastfeeding support has become increasingly widespread. On social media, we see a proliferation of "pumping coaches", "perinatal support workers", "pumping experts", "breastfeeding facilitators", and even "lactation consultants" without IBCLC certification.

While increasing access to basic breastfeeding support training is a laudable goal that we share, the manner in which this new certificate was introduced, with limited communication and without apparent consultation of already certified professionals, raises questions.

Since January 1, 2022, Qualiopi certification has been mandatory for all training organisations seeking access to public and pooled funding: OPCOs, CPF, FIFPL, regional funds. For IBCLCs and healthcare professionals looking for continuing education in lactation, this logo has become ubiquitous on sales pages.
