Food allergies in infants, particularly in those who are exclusively breastfed, are a recurring theme in consultations, with elimination diets often undertaken in cases of "internal reflux" or "colic" noticed by parents. Frequently faced with contradictory information and inadequate support, mothers are often recommended prolonged elimination diets (particularly cow's milk protein elimination diets) or, failing that, premature weaning in favor of "special allergy" formulas.

In recent years, breastfeeding support has become increasingly widespread. On social media, we see a proliferation of "pumping coaches", "perinatal support workers", "pumping experts", "breastfeeding facilitators", and even "lactation consultants" without IBCLC certification.

While increasing access to basic breastfeeding support training is a laudable goal that we share, the manner in which this new certificate was introduced, with limited communication and without apparent consultation of already certified professionals, raises questions.

Many mothers tell us they turn to Instagram or TikTok to find information. They are searching for answers, reassurance, community. And social media, because it delivers all of this, can be wonderful for breaking isolation.

Increasingly, pregnant women ask this question during preparation for breastfeeding: antenatal colostrum expression. This is a practice studied in very specific cases (notably gestational diabetes), but which is becoming more widely disseminated with the appearance of dedicated equipment, influencer marketing, and strong enthusiasm on social media.
