Learning objectives:

PHARMACOLOGY

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:

  • List the most commonly used postpartum medications

  • Understand how medications are transferred into breast milk and the associated parameters: half-life, pKa, binding to prothrombins, bioavailability, and RID (Redundancy Index)

  • Estimate the impact on the breastfed infant: RID

  • List medications contraindicated during breastfeeding Know the main clinical situations in breastfeeding mothers and treatments compatible with breastfeeding

  • Find information to inform parents or healthcare professionals 

  • Adopt a scientifically sound professional discourse

Training Content: Introduction - Pharmacology Data - Common Clinical Situations - Summary, Practical Resources & Evaluation 

 

TOXICOLOGY

  • Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the pharmacology of various substances (tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, CBD, hard drugs) and their transfer into breast milk

  • Recognize the signs and risks associated with the use of these substances in mothers and children

  • Understand the recommendations regarding the use of these substances in breastfeeding mothers

  • Know how to find information to inform parents or healthcare professionals

  • Adopt a scientifically sound professional discourse

Training Content :
